Add watermark to PDF

Put text or your logo over every page, as transparent as you like. Your PDF never leaves your device.

One PDF up to 50 MB and 500 pages.

A watermark marks the document but doesn't protect it: anyone with a PDF editor can remove it. For confidential documents, send them only to who needs them.

Your file never leaves your device: everything happens in the browser, with no upload to any server.

How to add a watermark to a PDF in 3 steps

  1. Choose the PDF

Tap Choose PDF and pick the file.

  2. Set up the mark

Type the text or choose the logo; adjust position, size and opacity while watching the preview.

  3. Save and download

Tap Add watermark, then Download PDF. The file ends with “-watermarked” in its name.

  • Text: CONFIDENTIAL, COPY, DRAFT, SAMPLE, your company name or “For John Smith only”. In gray, red or blue, straight or tilted.
  • Logo: your brand image as PNG or JPG. A transparent PNG shows only the drawing, without a white square.

Position, size and opacity

  • Center: a large mark in the middle of the page, the most common choice.
  • Top and bottom: a discreet band at the top or foot of the page.
  • Tiled: the mark repeated across the whole page.

Size goes from small to large, and opacity from 10% to 100%. The mark lands in the same place on every page, including sideways ones.

A watermark marks, it doesn’t protect

The mark shows that the document is a copy, a draft or whose it is, and discourages misuse. It isn’t a lock: anyone with a PDF editor can remove it. For confidential documents, send them only to who needs them.

Your file never leaves your device

The mark is added in your browser, in your phone’s or computer’s memory. The PDF and the logo don’t go through our server.

Limits

One PDF up to 50 MB and 500 pages; the logo, up to 20 MB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I put CONFIDENTIAL on every page?

Choose the PDF, keep the text CONFIDENTIAL (or type another) and tap Add watermark. It goes in tilted, in the center of each page, in gray and at 30% opacity.

Can I use my logo?

Yes. Tap Image and choose your logo as PNG or JPG. A PNG with a transparent background works best: only the drawing shows.

What is opacity?

How strongly the mark shows. At 10% it’s very light, and the document stays easy to read; at 100% it’s solid. The default is 30%.

What is tiled?

The mark repeated in a grid across the whole page, smaller. It makes it harder to crop part of the document without the mark.

Does a watermark protect the document?

It marks it, but doesn’t protect it: anyone with a PDF editor can remove it. It’s for showing that something is a copy, a draft or confidential, and whose it is.

Does the PDF text stay selectable?

Yes. The mark goes on top of the page, and the rest of the document stays as it was.

Can I see it before saving?

Yes. The preview shows the first page with the mark, and updates right away when you change the text, position, size or opacity.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The mark is added in your browser, and neither the PDF nor the logo leaves your device.

Is there a page limit?

Up to 500 pages and 50 MB, and a logo up to 20 MB.

Can I open a password-protected PDF?

No. A protected PDF won’t open here, and we don’t try to break the password. See the guide PDF won’t open or is password protected.
