Sign PDF

Draw your signature or type your name, drag it into place and download the PDF. It never leaves your device.

One PDF up to 50 MB and 500 pages.

Drawn signature, not a digital one

The signature goes into the PDF as an image, as if you signed on paper and scanned it. It is not a certificate-based digital signature. For documents that require a digital signature, use a qualified e-signature service or a digital certificate. Whoever asks for the document decides what they accept.

Your file never leaves your device: everything happens in the browser, with no upload to any server.

How to sign a PDF in 3 steps

  1. Choose the PDF

Tap Choose PDF and select the document.

  2. Create your signature

Draw it with your finger or mouse, or type your name and pick a lettering style. Tap Use this signature.

  3. Place it and save

Drag the signature onto the right line, pull the corner to resize it and tap Save signed PDF. The file ends in “-signed”.

The signature first shows up on the last page, where the signature line usually is. Use the arrows to go to another page.

A drawn signature is not a digital signature

Your signature goes into the PDF as an image, as if you signed on paper and scanned it. It works for everyday paperwork: a rental agreement between people, a receipt, a school permission slip, a quote for a client. Whoever asks for the document decides whether they accept it.

It is not a certificate-based digital signature. When a document requires a digital signature, as some government offices do, use a qualified e-signature service or a digital certificate. If in doubt, ask whoever requested the document which kind of signature they accept.

Tips for a good-looking signature

  • On a phone, turn it sideways for more room to draw.
  • Sign slowly and big: the signature gets smaller on the page and looks steadier.
  • Blue or black: blue looks like a pen and shows it is the signature, not a copy.
  • Initials on every page: add the same signature, smaller, in the corner of each page.

Your file never leaves your device

The PDF is opened, signed and saved in your browser, in your phone’s or computer’s memory. No file goes through our server, and the image of your signature stays there too. Closing the page erases everything.

Limits

Frequently asked questions

Is this signature legally valid?

It is a drawn signature: an image placed on the PDF, like signing on paper and scanning it. It is not a certificate-based digital signature. Whoever asks for the document decides whether they accept it. For documents that require a digital signature, use a qualified e-signature service or a digital certificate.

How do I sign with my finger on a phone?

Choose the PDF, tap Draw and sign in the white area. Not happy with it? Tap Clear and sign again. Then tap Use this signature.

I can't draw it well. Is there another way?

Yes. Tap Type, write your name and pick one of the two signature lettering styles.

How do I sign more than one page?

Go to the page with the arrows and tap Add signature to this page. Repeat on every page that needs a signature or initials.

Can I add the date?

Yes. Check Add the date below the signature. Today’s date comes filled in, and you can change the text, for example to add the city.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is opened, signed and saved in your browser. The signature you draw never leaves your device either.

The PDF already had a digital signature. What happens?

The screen warns you first. Saving a copy with a drawn signature makes the existing digital signature invalid in that copy. If it matters, sign a different copy or ask for a new one.

Does a password-protected PDF open?

No. Protected PDFs don’t open here, and we don’t try to break the password. See the guide PDF won’t open or is password protected.

Is the PDF text still selectable?

Yes. The signature is placed on top of the page, and the rest of the document stays as it was: text, links and forms.
